Overview

Year Dot Calendar ("we," "us," "our," or "the Extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding data collection, use, and protection when you use our Chrome extension.

Data We Collect

Year Dot Calendar does NOT collect, transmit, or store any personal data.

The Extension does not:

• Collect personal information
• Track browsing history
• Send data to any server operated by us or any third party
• Use cookies or tracking pixels
• Require account creation or login
• Access your browsing activity

The only data leaving your device is your preferences, and only if you have Chrome Sync enabled — in which case Chrome (not the Extension) syncs it across your own devices via your Google account. See "Data Storage" below.

Data Storage

The Extension stores two kinds of data using Chrome's built-in storage:

• Your preferences (display options, search engine, appearance/theme, calendar size) are saved with chrome.storage.sync. If you are signed in to Chrome and have sync enabled, Chrome may sync this small amount of data across your own devices through your Google account. It is handled entirely by Chrome — the Extension never operates its own servers and never sends your data to us or any third party.
• Your per-day notes and markers (colors, icons, emoji, notes you add to dots) are saved with chrome.storage.local and remain only on the device where you created them.

The Extension itself makes no network requests and includes no analytics or tracking. The only times your browser leaves the new tab page are actions you take yourself:

• Search box: when you press Enter, your query is sent directly to the search engine you selected in Settings (Google, ChatGPT, Brave, Bing or DuckDuckGo), exactly as if you had typed it into the address bar. The Extension does not see, log or store your queries. Those services' own privacy policies apply once you leave the page.
• Support link: the "Support Development" button in Settings opens an external donation page only when you click it.

Permissions

Year Dot Calendar requests a single permission, storage, which is used solely to save the preferences and notes described above. It does not request access to your browsing history, tabs, or any websites.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected with an updated "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Extension following any updates constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
